Aida Lodge of the Sons of Italy in America

On Sunday, January 25, 2009, the Aida Lodge No. 2163A of the Order of the Sons in America changes name to Captain Kathy Mazza Sons of Italy Lodge in memory of 9/11 hero police officer.

Captain Kathy Mazza was born in 1955 and along with three brothers, raised in Massapequa, and attended Plainedge High School then prusued a nursing degree at Nassau Community College and with her cardiothoracic training became an operating nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY. In 1987 she enrolled in the Port Authority Police Academy. Kathy married Chris DeLosh, a member of NYCPD, and settled in Farmingdale. She rose up the ranks during her 14 years with the Port Authority Police. 1994 she made Sergeant, 1998 Lieutenant and 2000 Captain. Kathy brought her nursing skills to the Port Authority Police Dept. with her CPR and defibrillator training.

On September 11, 2001 Captain Kathy Mazza DeLosh was killed, in the line of duty, as she aided in the rescue of people from the doomed building of the Twin Towers in NYC. Her body was recoved five months later in the rubble of the North Tower.
