A - Alonzo and Iris Gibbs for documenting Central Park/Bethpage History. B - Biblical name of "Bethpage" given by Thomas Powell. C - Central Park the name of the area before 1936 - now, the Central Park Historical Society and the Bethpage-Central Park Kiwanis are proud to acknowledge the name. D - Down-town with the best merchants, and where the community gathers to celebrate holidays and events. E - Exceptional education for our children. F - Fire Department protecting the community since 1910. G - Grumman Aircraft built products with the reputation of "sterling". H - Houses of worship where all denominations are welcomed. I - Immigrants from many countries settled and developed the area. J - JFK Middle School - first school in the country named for assassinated President John F. Kennedy. K - Kessler created world famous glass products. L - Library that enriches the entire community. M - Motor Parkway the first roadway in the country, built for the automobile, came through Central Park. N - Notable people who dined at the world class BeauSejour Restaurant in the early 1900's-1960's. O - Out-door arears for sports and playgrounds. P - Pickle and Kraut products grown, prepared and sold before 1900. Q - Quakers that settled in the area. R - Railroad that supports the region. S - State Park - a park for all seasons. T - Trails for hiking and biking. U - U.S. Open Golf Tournament played in the Bethpage State Park. V - Veterans honored who fought in the many wars. W - Water that was voted the Best Tasting in the State. X - The unknown factor - the best is yet to be realized. Y - Yard Sales Z - Zorn's Poultry Farm on the Hempstead Tpk.
