Arthur F. White, owner and director of a funeral home for more than 60 years when he passed away at the age of 85. Like a small town doctor of past time, Mr. White often made house calls to the bereaved families. Mr. White was born in Brooklyn in 1902 then moved to Amityville and followed his father and uncle as a funeral director - establishing the first funeral home in Farmingdale in 1923, and a branch in Bethpage in 1946. As a community minded citizen of Farmingdale he proudly served as a board member of the Sunrise Federal Savings and Loan, and president from 1956-1966, and board chairman 1966 till his death. Mr. White was a past president of Rotary Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Hicksville chapter of the Elks, and the Farmingdale-Bethpage Historical Society.
