A SPECIAL LANDMARK by Doris Steimer

The wall- It's only a wall, How important could it be? It's not too high nor is it very long. But,it commands attention from old folks, physically impaired. Children delight in climbing and walking on the wall. It's a meeting place, a place to enjoy the sun, a pick-up spot- So well known to all. Many changes have occurred around the wall But it remains steadfast, a magnet. You are familiar with this piece of stonework, I'm sure its' more than "just a wall" near the heart of town. Go to the Bethpage Library, linger awhile and you will see the people it attracts. Imagine- one little piece of wall. Maybe I'll see you there!
