Running for re-election to the five year term as Fire Commissioner, lives at 142 Harrison Avenue and has been a Bethpage resident for over 30 years. He owns the Bethpage Press, at 450 Stewart Avenue. Six of DeFanis' 15 years as Fire Commissioner have been spent as chairman of the Board. He has been a volunteer fireman for 20 years and a state Fire Warden for 22 years.
