Hassett, Robert

Firefighter Robert Hassett, Company Four, of the Bethpage Fire Department lost his life in the line of duty on May 25, 1978. On May 25, 2008, the Bethpage Fire Department marked the 30th Anniversary of his death by placing a plaque at the scene of the accident at Three Brothers Pools on Hempstead Turnpike, Bethpage. Captian Joseph Dunn also lost his life fighting same fire.

On Memorial Day, 1979 the department dedicated a memorial stone on the grounds of Station 4 in their memory.
