Below information from Gary Hammond writing- BETHPAGE - "A PRETTY LITTLE SETTLEMENT" The 1920's witnessed a resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan on Long Island. The Klan held giant rally, or Klorero, at the Mineola Fair Grounds July 3 - 6, 1926. At that time the Klan had the support from most communities on Long Island. Men, Women and children were all involved with many prominent Long Island members. Even church groups were supportive. A large rally was held in Washington D. C., September 1926, where more Long Islanders were converted to Klanishness. Although there is no evidence of a Klan group in Central Park - neighboring Farmingdale had one. October 12, 1926, Knights of the Ku Klux Klan Local 5 State of New York would be issued a Charter in 1926 called the "Bethpage Social Club". Although Farmingdale received a Charter in 1926, the Klan had existed in Farmingdale in August 1923, and survived till about 1929.

Evidence of the Klan in the area was noted in the minutes of the North Bethpage Civic Association - the removal of Klan graffiti from their meeting hall. Local awarded trophies destroyed.
