Charles grew up in Bethpage and worked for his father, known by all residents as "Uncle Bob", who had a stationery store/luncheonette on Broadway during the 1950's and 1960's (not sure when the shop became Conway's Stationery Store).

Charles was born in 1952 and was short order cook and soda jerk for his father at the age of 12.

He created many sitcoms including "Grace Under Fire", "Cybill", "Dharma and Greg", "Two and a Half Men", "The Big Bang Theory" and the executive producer of a CBS sitcome "Mike & Molly". His professional name is Chuck Lorre.
