The Long Island Fair is recognized by New York State as the official county fair for Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk County. The Fair began in 1842 as the Queens County Agricultural Fair. It moved to its permanent location in Mineola in 1866 on Old Country Road and Washington Avenue. When the Nassau County Court complex took over the area the fair was moved to Roosevelt Raceway and rides and sideshows were added. In 1970 the Fair moved to Old Bethpage Village Restoration located on Round Swamp Road, Old Bethpage. A recreation of the original Exhibition Hall of 1866 holds the displays for the many exhibits submitted to compete for prizes in garden produce, flowers and plants, needlework, woodwork, culinary, and hobbies. There is a Junior category for children to enter their craft with a chance to win a prize. Farm animals are a part of the competition and are there to view. There are games, entertainment and food for all. The only original building is the Superintendents Office which was built in 1884.

The Old Bethpage Village Restoration provides visitors with an opportunity to visit a mid-19th Century American village.
