Masone, Michael

Michael E. Masone, teacher in Bethpage for 35 years who encouraged his students to fall in love with music. He not only taught his students the instruments, but life lessons along the way. He was the elementary school band and orchestra director at Central Boulevard School. He was known to traveled out of town to watch a former students performance. Many students acknowledged his encouragement helped them along life's journey.

Michael was born April 13, 1949 in Mineola; he graduated from Plainview Old Bethpage High School in 1967; received a bachelor of science degree in music education from Hofstra University in 1972; received a master's in music education from C. W. Post in 1976. Self-taught pianist also studied violin repair and restoration as he owned and operated a violin shop since 1972. In 2009 he became a member of the Spinney Clock Guild in Port Jefferson where he repaired and appraised antique clocks.

Michael passed away on October 31, 2017 at the age of 68. Married to Susan, son Erik and daughter Lisa.
