BROTHER: Eugene H. Sengstacken (served in U. S. Navy - Korea)

GRANDFATHER: Henry Sengstacken came to Central Park in 1896. Town was rural, had dirt roads,General Store.

FAMILY BUSINESS: Lumberyard - Sengstacken and Schaaf

                              General Store  -  Henry Sengstacken
                              Grumman Employees (both parents)

STORES/SHOPPING - Goettelman Brothers - Butchers (Mom's brothers), late 20's early 30's.

                                    Walton Deli, Geffken Deli, Ralston's, Fredricks', Bogner's Ice Cream Store.
                                    Fortsch Brothers Butchers, Klinglehofer Butcher, Bank, a small "super market" -
                                    (can't think of the names of the brothers that ran it - on Broadway north of RR, 1st
                                    store after gas station.

SCHOOL ATTENDED: Powell Avenue K-8, Farmingdale High School.

CHURCH ATTENDED: St. Paul's Lutheran Church - Sunday School, Choir, Walther League - Youth.

PROGRESS WITNESSED: Rapid growth, street widening, farms gone, Grumman Aerospace.

AVAILABLE TRANSPORTATION: Car and Long Island Railroad.

AVAILABLE RECREATION: Self-styled - ice skating, sledding, skiing @ Bethpage State Park.

DEPRESSION: Vaguely remember

WWII: Recall all of it. I was in the Cadet Nurse Corp at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, N. Y., 1943 - 46.

          We were signed up for Military Service (U. S. Navy) but did not go to active duty since we were
          assigned to the hospital and then - Praise God  -  the war ended:
