The family moved to Central Park in August 1926, and the village was one block either side of the railroad. I entered the 5th Grade at the Powell Avenue School, and Mr. Gubelman was the principal. I graduated in 1930.

We lived on Harrison Avenue, and in the summer we sat in our back yards, on Sunday afternoons, and watched the polo games. We all supplied water for the horses.

We watched Grumman being built and my older brother, Sid Steele, worked there all his life and when he retired he joined the Restoration Team.
