Mrs. Pierrina Manghi Tallman was born on February 23, 1908 in Central Park, in the area now known as Borella Field on Plainview Road. She attended school in a country schoolhouse in Plainview. Her father died when she was a young girl, therefore, her mother moved with her and her younger sister to Brooklyn when Pierrina was ten years old. Pierrina returned to Central Park at the age of 20 after marrying Charles Tallman with their first born son, Charles. They settled in the area known as McCordsville, near Harrison Avenue.

Bethpage became home for the Tallman family which grew from the family of three to a family of six: Charles, Robert, Anna Lee and Jack. To-date, Pierrina has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pierrina roots in America go back to her paternal grandfather who came to America in 1891 from Italy and worked to bring his family to America.

We are very proud to acknowledge Mrs. Pierrina Manghi Tallman, at the age of 87, is one of the oldest living natives of Bethpage.
