Georgia grew up on Concord Avenue, Bethpage, in the 1950's, and she attended Bethpage Schools, where she was active, as well as, being involved in St. Martin of Tours Church.

She left Bethpage and attended Niagrara University, 1961 - 1965, graduating with Bachelor of science in Nursing, Registered Nurse. Georgia worked as a Registered Nurse for 44 years in many capacities, from Pediatrics, Critical Care, and private duty. She worked in our local hospitals (Mid Island, Plainview, and Massapequa General) and she also worked as the school nurse at Pine Avenue School (1971-1972).

Georgia received her Certification in Labor Relations from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in 1992.

Georgia was the Nursing Representative and Organizer (1983-2004) NYS Nurses Association, Latham, NY. She represented nurses in collective bargaining, National Labor Relations Board hearings, contract negotiations, and labor disputes. Georgia is proud and dedicated to her profession.

Georgia balanced her nursing career with being a mom to Stephen, Laura and Erik. She settled in Middleburgh, New York where she met and married Darryl Van Dyke.

When it came time for her to retire, she sadly had to deal with the untimely death of her husbnd, Darryl, and his unfinished dream of building a mini golf park and driving range. Now Georgia realized she had the obligation to complete and run what was Darryl's dream. With little or no experience on how to proceed and what to do next, she has succeeded and is now running the Gobbler's Knob Family Fun Park, which was voted by the local paper as "The Best Place To Take Kids!" The activities at the Fun Park can be viewed at www.gobblersknob.us.
